St Xavier’s ENGLISH MEDIUM School in Manickpur and its Pre-Primary Department, which began in 2006, is managed by The Bombay St John de Britto Society, a Public Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Public Trust Act 1950. The school is a co-educational minority institution and caters to all classes, communities and creeds. However, being a minority institution, preference for admission is given to Catholics. The school is affiliated to the CISCE, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. Hence, the curriculum and pedagogy followed from the Pre-Primary stage through Class 10 is that of the ICSE stream. The school has spacious classrooms, a well-equipped library, science and computer laboratories, audio-visual rooms, a hall, basketball and badminton courts and playgrounds for the all-round growth of the pupils. The logo of the school bears the official seal of the Society of Jesus ‘IHS’. This is an abbreviation of the name of Jesus, the first three letters, IHESUS in Greek, the source and inspiration of the organization.
The name, 'Xavier' represents a pioneering Jesuit, an early companion of the founder, St Ignatius of Loyola. 'Education for a better future' is the motto of the institution that serves as an inspiration for the staff, the students and their parents, who are collaborators in our educational endeavours. It is our hope, that the education, imparted in the English medium, will help our students to be linked globally. This will have a positive and qualitative impact on our students who will, in turn, influence society.
