The whole year comprises three terms: June to August, September to December and January to April. The course of school studies is designed as a preparation for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (I.C.S.E.) conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. However, oral and written assignments are conducted, to assess the pupil’s progress throughout the academic year.
There are three Terminal Examinations every year, for Class 5 upwards. The first is held in August, the second, in December and the last, at the end of March. Regular attendance, good conduct and application throughout the year are indispensable conditions for any award. Unsatisfactory discipline debars a pupil from receiving an award.
In Classes 5 to 10, failure in a subject disqualifies a pupil from obtaining an award for General Proficiency and Good Application.
Withdrawal from the school or absence from the examination or part of it disqualifies a pupil from receiving an award.
Pupils failing in Religion/Value Education, Marathi, Art, SUPW, P.T. or Computer Applications forfeit their awards.
At the end of the year, awards are given on the average results of the three terminal examinations. Failure in any subject at any examination disqualifies a pupil from obtaining an award.
An award for General Proficiency is given to the first five pupils who obtain 70% or more of the total (Classes 8, 9 and 10), 75% or more of the total (Classes 6 and 7) and 80% or more of the total (Class 5)
For every class subject, an award for proficiency is given on a similar basis. In case of a tie, the award goes to the pupil who has a higher total in the examination.
An award for Good Application is given to the first five students who obtain 60% or more of the total and who do not obtain any award for proficiency.
Absence from the whole examination or from one or more subjects involves the loss of awards for these subjects.
